Their client was the sole Defendant in a five-Count Indictment, which included three separate Counts of criminal predatory sexual assault. Accordingly, he faced potentially a dozen or more years in the IDOC, if convicted. The case was tried to a jury in Kane County during the week of September 18, 2023. The State presented numerous witnesses in its case-in-chief, including the individual who made the allegations; a number of family members connected to that individual; members of law enforcement; and expert witnesses. In the defense case, Mr. Leonard and Mr. Chivari presented four witnesses. After closing arguments, the jury found Leonard Trial Lawyers’ client NOT GUILTY on each and every Count.
